MY HEART CRIES

My hands are calloused from hammering,

My eyes are red from the soot,

My throat is sore from inhaling the smoke,

And my heart cries from this hardship.

I work every day and night,

I eat nothing, day and night,

I sleep never, neither at day nor at night,

And my heart cries day and night.

I hate it when people look at me,

With pity or disgust,

They never do anything, just stare and stare,

And my heart cries when they bore their eyes into me.

I haven’t smiled in days,

I haven’t talked in days,

I haven’t cleaned myself in days,

And my heart cries each day.

I have never known any family,

I haven’t have had any friends, I don’t even know what that is,

I have only known myself,

And my lonely heart cries each day.

He shouts at me every day,

He hits me every day,

He abuses me every day,

And my beaten heart cries each day.

I weep as I work,

I curse as I work,

I mentally kill everyone as I work,

And my broken heart cries every day.

I have lost faith in the world,

I have lost faith in God,

Faith eludes me now,

And my faithless heart cries each day.

I am not to survive for long,

I knew that all along,

I am now counting my days,

And my heart cries each day.

I hope heaven is as good as they say,

I hope I go there,

For I haven’t done anything wrong in my miserably short life,

And my heart cries each day.
